Rope Access Gear

Rope Access Gear (RAG)/ Working from Height course

Rope Access Gear (RAG) is provided to ensure a safer working environment for firefighting teams when working at height, in confined spaces, or when there is a risk of falling. The equipment also gives greater flexibility to firefighters when carrying out a variety of rescues in different locations and will replace the traditional methods of rescue, using a lowering line. Within the Work at Height Regulations 2005, working at height is defined as all work activities where there is a need to control the risk of falling any distance liable to cause injury. There are no minimum height requirements for working at height.

Examples include:

·         climbing masts, pylons or cranes (on site training required)
·         working close to excavations or trenches
·         working on scaffolding
·         working close to dock sides
·         sewer working

While the equipment allows for increased flexibility, it is not intended or desirable for firefighters to use the equipment beyond their capabilities or experience.

Training can be delivered at the Training & Development Academy (IFE Approved) or offsite.

We can offer this course to commercial customers as an initial or a refresher course.
